The Peak District Gravel Epic, set for June 21, 2025, is a spectacular off-road adventure in one of England’s most scenic national parks. Riders can choose between three routes: the 109 km long route with 1,750 meters of climbing, the 77 km medium route with 1,200 meters of elevation, or the 42 km short route with 550 meters of elevation. The event starts in Bakewell and follows the famous Monsal, Tissington, and High Peak Trails, offering a mix of smooth gravel, rolling countryside, and challenging climbs. With camping available at the event site, it’s a great opportunity to make a weekend out of this classic gravel ride. The long route takes riders across the best gravel trails in the region, starting on the Monsal Trail before tackling Miller’s Dale and heading south on the Tissington Trail. It then crosses into Staffordshire, reaches the High Peak Trail, and includes some challenging climbs like Larkstone Lane (1.9 km at 6.2%). The medium route removes 32 km and 550 meters of elevation while keeping the key off-road sections intact, making it a great choice for those wanting a demanding but manageable ride. The short route is designed for all abilities, following smooth gravel trails and farm tracks with one 3 km climb before looping back to Bakewell. Riders will enjoy a fully supported experience, with well-marked routes, GPX files, and feed stations every 30-40 km, offering tea, coffee, cake, sandwiches, and crisps. Mechanical support is available at the rider village and key stops, with support vans on standby for major issues. The finish line celebration includes a beer and food truck, perfect for unwinding after a day on the trails. With camping available for £10 and nearby accommodation in Bakewell, Buxton, and Hope, this event is perfect for those looking to explore the Peak District’s stunning landscapes both on and off the bike.
