The Sherwood Pines Gravel Epic, set for July 20, 2025, offers a fast-rolling and scenic gravel adventure through the forests, farm tracks, and green lanes of northern Nottinghamshire. With 80-90% of the route off-road, riders can choose between the 126 km long route with 1,200 meters of climbing, the 85 km medium route with 800 meters of elevation, or the 60 km short route with 550 meters of climbing, making it an ideal event for both experienced gravel riders and those new to off-road cycling. With its smooth gravel roads, minimal climbs, and well-maintained trails, this event is a perfect mid-summer gravel ride for all abilities. The long route starts with 10 km of smooth fire roads in Sherwood Pines, leading into green lanes and farm tracks, with nearly 85% off-road riding. Riders will pass through the historical Creswell Crags and Bolsover before tackling the only notable climb (1.7 km at 6.5%). The medium route follows the same start but skips the western loop, reducing the distance while still covering some of the best sections. The short route, at 60 km, keeps riders mostly in Sherwood Pines, making it an excellent introduction to gravel riding. All routes are rolling and non-technical, ensuring a fast-paced, enjoyable ride. Participants will benefit from fully signed routes, GPX files, and well-stocked feed stations every 30-40 km, offering tea, coffee, cake, sandwiches, and crisps. Mechanical support is available at the rider village and key checkpoints, with support vans on standby for major issues. The finish line celebration includes a beer and food truck, creating a relaxed post-ride atmosphere. Camping is available on-site, and riders can extend their stay to explore Sherwood Forest, Go Ape, MTB trails, and local walking routes. With easy access to nearby towns like Mansfield and Worksop, this event is the perfect summer gravel getaway.
